About Kumihimo: This is a traditional braiding technique that has been practiced in Japan for centuries - by monks as an aid to meditation, as well as by the nobility for personal adornment and by samurai to secure their armor. Traditional Kumihimo is braided on a floor loom called a Marudai, using cordage only. Modern artisans use a hand loom with eight strands to produce fine woven beadwork that is strong and beautiful. While braiding the lanyard, the Good Witch meditates on the kindness of the Universe. Each braided chain is imbued with a spell of gentle good wishes.
